We are accessible all year round but due to our location it is recommended that you have your own transport or this can be arranged for you. There is a local bus service that connects the surrounding villages to Elena which you can board 1km from the accommodation. There are a few bars and shops within 2km and a very good bakery in the village of Maryan where you can buy freshly baked bread daily. The nearest restaurant is about 4km but a lot of the bars also sell snacks.
There is a bread delivery service 3 times a week and a well stocked mobile shop visits twice a week for all your essentials. Fresh eggs, milk, cheese and yogurt can all be sourced locally within the village.

The accommodation comprises:

A very comfortable fully furnished apartment with one double room with attached WC and shower and one triple room with 3 single beds. A kitchen and dining area with large table, sofa bed and CD/radio. The kitchen is fully equipped with all utensils, double gas hob, wood burning stove with oven, fridge freezer, toaster and coffee machine. Ideal for families or groups.

A lovely double room with attached WC and shower with its own wood burning stove. The room is very cosy and has exposed beams in the ceiling. Perfect for a romantic weekend in the mountains.

Outdoors our guests have use of the stone laid terrace with barbeque, seating area and plunge pool. We are keen gardeners and have created lovely surroundings for your enjoyment. Relax in the hammock under the old apple tree or enjoy a cold drink and admire the stunning views.

Selo Petkovci

Just off the Elena-Sliven highway, 49km southeast of Veliko Tarnovo and 70km north of Sliven. Petkovci is a small village with a population of about a dozen people. Situated at an altitude of around 500m and south facing there are amazing panoramic views of the Central Balkan range. The peaks of Chumerna (1536m), Ostrets (an extinct volcano), Golyama Tuzla & Simanovo among others are clearly visible and on a clear day Botev Peak (2376m the highest peak in the Central Balkan) can be seen.

The Bulgarian National Revival town of Elena is 10km east and has a rich history and something for everyone. At the towns highest point is the old clock tower which dates back to 1812. There are many other places of interest including museums, an art gallery, various shops selling locally made crafts, numerous cafes, bars and restaurants. A large sports and wrestling ground and for the hot days a large outdoor swimming pool.

Maryan Monastery is 2km west from here. The site dates back to the 8th - 9th centuries, the present day church was built in 1835. It is situated in picturesque surroundings near the point where the Miikovska and Koctelska rivers merge.

Just 2 of the many different kinds of wild mushrooms that can be found in the surrounding area. The best time for mushroom picking is October and we will gladly point you in the right direction. The surrounding meadows are full of wild herbs, many with therapeutic properties and many species of wild flowers. The variety of flora and fauna in the area is vast, with chances of spotting wild boar and deer. Birdlife is also in abundance, spotted woodpeckers are regular visitors at the bird feeders and the stunning yellow of the Golden Oriole is also a delight to see.

The Elephant tree – Clona

An 18km drive south we will take you to the village of Bagalevtci, where you must leave your car and carry on by foot. A 15 min easy trek with beautiful views along the way will take you to Clona an enormous 1300 year old oak tree, its circumference is 7.5m.

For fans of hiking and mountain tourism there are numerous picturesque eco tracks and tourist routes that reveal the natural beauties of the area. Maps of the area can be provided. We have 2 mountain bikes available for hire at 10 leva per day for you to enjoy the scenery a different way. Towards Elena 8km east are riding stables where you can enjoy the magnificent nature on horseback. The ski tracks at Chumerna Peak and the village of Miikovtsi 12km south, offer opportunities for practicing winter sports, while sledging and a lot of fun can be had on the slopes surrounding Petkovtci.

For lovers of fishing Yovkovtsi Dam 13km east is rich in carp bream, common carp and catfish among other species. Closer to home the Dam at Palitsi 6km southwest is bred with carp, white fish and perch. Both these areas are ideal for recreation, picnics and water sports. You can also try your luck for Balkan trout in the Kostelska River which is within walking distance.

Bulgaria produces a wide range of good quality red, white and rose wines and is one of the largest exporters in the world. For those looking for a different location for a wine based holiday this could be the place. Within a 1 hour 30 min drive from where we are there are 3 wineries which are available for tours and tasting, which we can arrange for you on your request.
